January 31, 2009

Today we (Jeremy, Kavika, Malia and I) went to the Taufua Beach in Lalomanu. This is our first time there since we being here. We arrived there around lunch, so we order fish and chips and chicken and chips since Kavika doesn't like ia(fish). They were $16 tala a dish which was very good compare to the other places we stop at before. Jeremy, Kavika and I took turns snorkeling , and they have the best snorkeling around the island. We actually left our home yesterday and went over to my sister's house to spend the night. Yesterday we went to the Togitogina Water Fall for a swim,it is so beautiful back there. The place that we went to today is own by my dad's cousin so we didn't have to pay which is always nice. We'll definitely have to go back there and spend the night before we leave Samoa.

Day at the Sliding Rock.(Papaseea)

Today after Kavika and dad did school, we decided it was too hot to stay home this afternoon so we packed us drinks and snacks and head over to the Papaseea.(Sliding Rock) My sister Fa'avae had a meeting here in town that she had to go to so her husband(Sam) and their two kids came over and hang out with us at our place. It was so nice to get into the cold water after being baked at the house. This morning we tried to save power on the A.C. so we opened all the windows of the house with the fan on but it still fills like an oven in the house the whole time. This is one place here in Samoa you have to visit when you do come here because it's so beautiful and the water will for sure cools you down.

Talofa lava, to our families and friends and Happy New Years(2009). Well, first of all I would like to apologize for not updating our blog for over a month. It’s really hard to try to keep it updated with how slow the internet is. Anyways here is a little update about the Covington family here in Samoa. Jeremy, the kids and I are all doing well. Were not sick any more. Doing Christmas, both Jeremy and I and the kids were all sick at the same time. Talk about Christmas presents but I’m happy to said that we are all doing good now. My parents and three brothers where here in Samoa for Christmas which was nice to get to see them again.
We spend Christmas morning at our house in Apia, but the rest of the day at the Vavau beach. We had a BBQ on the beach for Christmas with everyone not felling good, but it was still fun to get out of the house and just be on the beach looking at waves.
My parents and brothers all left already and so were now back on our normal rotine. Kavika and dad are back doing home schooling and so are Lia and I depending on the day and how Lia feels about school. So far were going onto our third month here in Samoa which is very good for our family. When we first moved into our home we decided to go to a Samoan Ward in hope that will also help Jeremy and kids pick up the language quick but after three Sundays Lia stop going to Primary and Kavika was complaining about not being able to talk to the kids in Primary.
Well, I’m happy to say that the kids enjoys going to church and to the Primary now because we decided to go to the English Speaking Ward this year and the best part is JEREMY NOW GOES TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY TOO. Now, I’m not quite sure if it’s because he loves going to church here in Samoa or is it because he’s scared to stay home by himself I haven’t figure that one our yet. Makes me wonder if we should just stay here in Samoa since he goes to church here every Sunday.
The kids especially Lia, Jeremy and I are excited and are looking forward on seeing The Lichfields in a month and a half. Lia gets up every morning and ask if their (Lichfields)coming today, and I have to tell her not for a long time and she seems to understand that. You guys have to e- mail(talacf@yahoo.com) us and keep us updated with what’s going on in the State. We love ya and miss ya!

Three and a half weeks in Samoa.

This week we went back to the village to help out with building the Samoan fale. We were there for 3 hrs then decided to come back home(Ululoloa) since it rained the whole time we were there. This week went by pretty fast and also rained alot too. No beach, tennis or swimming at the pool. We went to Apia(down town) couple of times this week, came back home then Kavika and dad did school and of course work on learning how to speak Samoan. Not much happening right now here in Samoa. Hope everyone in the State is doing well.

We made it to Samoa.

Let see it took us 10 hrs and 45 minutes to go from L.A CA to Faleolo Apia Samoa. A very long flight but we made it. We are now at the far far away land is what Lia calls it. Everyone is doing well. Kavika is back doing home schooling with dad and learning Samoa at the same time. Everything is slow here in Samoa. Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving since it was yesterday. We went to a Luau and a show for our Thanksgiving meal and it was good. We have a place now and a car so were no longer homeless.

My baby turned four today.

Today we celebrated Malia's 4th birthday. I can't believe my baby is already four, it seems like she was just a baby yesterday and now she's this little girl. This year I decided on baking cakes for both Malia and Kavika instead of buying it from the grocery store. I asked Lia what kind of cake she wanted and she told me she wants a pink cake, so I made her a two layer cake. We invited Patti and the kids over for dinner, we had baked potatoes, salad, raspberry jello, french bread, salmon, and of course cake and ice cream. Malia had alot of fun on her birthday and poor Livy was having a hard time when Lia start opening presents. She(Livy) cried and said "I'm sad for my birthday". She's cute. We have six more days left before heading to Samoa.

Birthday month. (November)

This is one of those month that has alot going on with everyone's birthday plus Thanks Giving. Yesterday Nov,03 was my(Tala) birthday tomorrow(Wednesday the 5th) will be Lia's 4th birthday, then Thursday (Nov 06,) will be Jodee's and my nephew Tapu who lives in New Zealand and Friday(Nov,07) is Kavika's 11th birthday. Next week Nov 15, will be grandma Covington's birthday and on the 27th will be my brother Fa'apepele's birthday. It's a very busy month. Since yesterday was my birthday we all went to Red Lobster for dinner. No birthday cake of course because we still have Lia's and Kavika's coming up this week, so that's alot of sugar right there plus all the Halloween candies.
